For the last four years, I've grown to know Chef Brad Matthews and his restaurant, Bar Le Côte, in Los Olivos, CA. Through that time I've come to see the Santa Ynez Valley not just as a place he cooks, but as a character in its own right — expansive, full of life, and quietly overflowing with creative people doing serious work.

This film is an attempt to capture that. It's a portrait of a chef, a kitchen, and a place — built around the rhythms of a single season: the early mornings, the foraging, the relationships with farmers and fishermen that shape what ends up on the plate. It's less about a restaurant succeeding than about what it looks like to build something with real intention, in a place most people drive past on their way somewhere else.

Full film will be released August 2026.
